Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) 🧠⚠️
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) occurs when a sudden impact, blow, or jolt to the head disrupts normal brain function. It can range from mild concussions to severe brain damage, requiring specialized medical care.
Causes of Traumatic Brain Injury
🚗 Road Accidents – Major cause of head injuries
🤕 Falls – Common in elderly and young children
🏈 Sports Injuries – Football, boxing, or extreme sports
🔫 Violence/Assault – Gunshot wounds or physical attacks
💥 Workplace Accidents – Construction site falls, machinery accidents
Symptoms of TBI
🌀 Mild TBI (Concussion):
✔️ Headache, dizziness, nausea
✔️ Blurred vision, sensitivity to light/sound
✔️ Memory issues, confusion, mood changes
🚨 Severe TBI :-
❌ Loss of consciousness (minutes to hours)
❌ Seizures or convulsions
❌ Slurred speech, difficulty waking up
❌ Weakness or numbness in limbs
Diagnosis of TBI
✅ CT Scan / MRI – Identifies swelling, bleeding, or fractures
✅ Neurological Exam – Evaluates memory, reflexes, and motor skills
✅ Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) – Measures severity of brain injury
Treatment for Traumatic Brain Injury
🩹 Mild TBI (Concussion Management) :-
🔹 Rest and pain management
🔹 Avoid screen time, loud noises, and strenuous activities
🔹 Gradual return to daily activities under medical supervision
🏥 Severe TBI (Surgical & Intensive Care) :-
🔹 Emergency Brain Surgery – To remove blood clots, relieve pressure, or repair skull fractures
🔹 Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Surgery – For bleeding control and pressure management
🔹 Neurocritical Care – ICU monitoring to prevent further brain damage
🔹 Rehabilitation – Physical, speech, and cognitive therapy for recovery
